The painting shows a sharp treatment of the figures and a strange post-Caravaggian luminosity. It is the work of an artist who is well acquainted with the sphere of Roman culture and seems to have been gifted with a remarkable painterly sensibility. It is probably a copy of a painting that is currently in Hrastovec Castle in Brezovica, Slovenia.
