PERSIAN BALUCH CARPET

Hand knotted wool rug on a wool warp made of sheep wool and goat hair. A pure work of Baluch ethnicity, influenced by the repertoire of motifs of Turkmen tribal groups. Professionally cleaned on both sides. Natural colours, dominated by the dyer's moth (Rubia tinctorum). Northeastern Persia, Khorasan Province, ca. 1920-30.
