Josef Jíra (1929 - 2005) ON A FAIR

Josef Jíra's creative imagination often found its focus in his childhood memories. The motifs of landscape and people intermingled, he studied them and created his own version of expressionist expression. But on his travels he also gave vent to spontaneous creativity, capturing places that attracted him. It was the swirl of colours and people at the fair and various gatherings that he painted repeatedly.
