Ludwig van Hoom was the pseudonym of the German painter Ludwig Hermann, who is particularly admired for his Dutch cityscapes. Hermann studied at the Berlin Academy with G. Schadow and continued his studies with E. Isabey and E. Lepoittevin in Paris. After an extended trip to Italy, he settled permanently in Berlin, from where he held local exhibitions, but also exhibited in London, Rotterdam, Gdansk, Leipzig and Lübeck.
