The black jar with a lid made of serpentinite was created at the time when Luděk Havelka together with Vincenc Makovský participated in the founding of the School of Art in Zlín, where Makovský was the head of the field of shaping machines and tools (today industrial design). The vase is an example of extraordinary craftsmanship, which is also unique in the field of technological experimentation with marble shaped into the thinnest possible form. The Bata School of Art and Industry in Zlín was intended to educate industrial artists, taking into account the model of the German Bauhaus movement.
