Josef Multrus (1898 - 1957) LANDSCAPE WITH A POND

Josef Multrus excelled in depicting the landscape of Prague and the social environment of ordinary people, workers and their life situations. He painted an environment he knew intimately - family members, his surroundings, landscapes and still lifes. He often chose a darker colour palette, which he complemented with contrasting colour elements, especially in still lifes. The focus of his work was the figure. Landscape with a Pond is a relaxed, fresh example of his talent as a landscape painter with a touch of impression.
