Pravoslav Kotík (1889 - 1970) BATHING

The work Bathing comes from his early work just after the artist's first exhibition with the group Divocí and also from the time when he was taking the exam at the Academy of Fine Arts. The central theme, as in all his work, is man - his role, his place in the world, his emotional state of mind. Bathing, rendered in the spirit of the French avant-garde, is an intimate, introspective subject, which, despite its relatively early date, is on a par with works from later trips to Paris, and captivates especially with its neoclassical view of the world and its social thematic line.
