Richard Wiesner often stayed in France and this undoubtedly influenced his work. He mainly created paintings with figurative compositions and portraits, where the influence of, for example, Manet is evident, but he also created experimental still lifes and landscapes. The still life with a bouquet belongs to his earlier and more valuable works, when he made a leap towards modern painting and showed a great feeling for it, in complete contrast to his later commissions in the spirit of socialist realism. His commissions for architectural decoration are well known, such as the decoration of the Praha - Smíchov railway station or the ceiling of the Karolina vestibule.
