Painter, sculptor and glass artist Pavel Trnka, who studied under Stanislav Libenský at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, contemplates relationships in artistic expression and beyond. A clearly defined philosophy, expressed using the most meager of means, is reflected into his objects, drawings and paintings. When simplifying his composition to the extreme, various layers of meaning pervade the composition – relationships formed in the universe, in nature, and in society. They are based on the gradual development of human civilization and millennia of traditions. The artist's residence in Japan has also proven a source of inspiration. His works are represented in major collections in the Czech Republic (Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague, Moravian Gallery in Brno) and outside his native country, including Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris and Takasaki Museum of Art and Yokohama Museum of Art in Japan.
