Pencil drawing on paper.Signed lower center: “F. Hudeček 77”. František Hudeček is an exceptional figure in Czech modern art. At the School of Applied Arts in Prague he studied under Professor Kysela, where he met other artists – Gross, Toyen, Štýrský, E.F. Burian, Rykr, Kolář, Janoušek, and of course Chalupecký, who had a strong impact on him. His art takes notice of many forms, from influences by Surrealism, Poetic Symbolism, Cubism and Constructivist tendencies to Op Art. Hudeček's work mixes fantasy, dreams and variations on life in the city and on the streets, presenting a unique poetic style. Hudeček aimed to achieve geometric arrangement, expressing himself in understandable symbols. In his series of heads, he continued to reduce the form to abstraction.
