Oil on canvas. This portrait of a lady in a long fur coat with a distinctive dark hat, which contrast with her light hair and her slightly pink facial skin tone, captures the vibrant expression of the subject and is among the artist's superb Art Nouveau portraits from the first decade of the 20th century. There likely are studies of the painting that were offered in the past; otherwise, Boettinger's works from the early 20th century are an exception on the auction market. Hugo Boettinger, a student of Maximilián Pirner at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, also published caricatures under the pseudonym Dr. Desiderius and worked with Šibeničky and Volné Směry magazines and Lidové Noviny newspaper. In later years, he attempted to portray dancing and athletic movement in his works.
