The brisk drawing of a lady holding a goblet, sitting in a café and wearing a period hat, is a beautiful example from a talented artist who later focused on abstract art. He studied painting privately under L. Bradáč and František Tichý. In 1968 he received a scholarship from the Federal Republic of Germany, and from 1969 he lived in exile in Switzerland, where he worked as a graphic designer and illustrator in Dittingen. He painted, designed posters, and made sculptures and objects. He has illustrated a number of books (including Balzac, Čapek, Seifert and Kafka). Artist's dedication on back.
