One of the main themes Šimotová focused on in her oeuvre was man and his physical gestures perceived through the prism of the inner world. She captured the figure or part of the human body as a tool, a language through which the story of the spirit is told. This drawing is a delicate example of the artist’s deep philosophical and religious perspective, which demonstrates similarity with the “Marked Head” series from 1988. The work comes from the collection of sculptor Vladimír Preclík, the artist’s generational cohort. Drawing on handmade paper, signed and dated “Adriena Šimotová 89” on bottom center.
