Antonín Hudeček (1872 - 1941) CARRIAGE ON THE FOREST PATH

From the opinion of PhDr. Mgr. "Hudeček conceived the painting under review, the subject of which is a realistic scene from an everyday village scene, as a fresh record of the reality he saw. He has summarily and very civilly captured the situation and has brought out in a light brushstroke the bustle of the cow-drawn cart, the lot of the hard-working peasant in the sun-blessed remote corner to extraordinary artistic effect. In his themes, Hudeček does not deny his friendship with Joža Úprka, but his expression is completely idiosyncratic and slightly more brooding. This is safely Hudeček's authenticum from before 1906. The painting is distinguished by its almost expressive brushwork, remarkable colouring and the persuasiveness of a motif that is not very effective for the viewer."
