The unique cubist buffet comes from the furnishings of the functionalist villa in the Baba colony of the famous Czech historian, Professor Julius Glücklich, which was designed for him by Josef Gočár (Na Babě 2, Jarní Street, No.1798 /3). The library represents an extremely rare example of the timeless world design of one of the most significant designers and architects of Czech Cubism, Josef Gočár, whose cabinets, bookcases and showcases, especially from the first years of Cubist work, can be considered almost as sculptures in their own right. Under the superstructure of the glass display case there are a total of three lockable drawers above which there are pull-out storage panels; underneath there is a door with a rich rosewood pattern. The desk for V. V. Štech from 1914 has the same cubist star fittings: see the catalogue Czech Cubism - Architecture and Design 1910-1925, p. 204. In addition to the unique design, the masterful quality of the furniture's workmanship can also be highlighted. The same buffet is in the MP collections under inventory number 54793.
