František Maria Černý (1903 - 1978) LANDSCAPE WITH A WOMAN TORSO

The work can be considered a thorough study of reality. A carefully shaded sphere hovers over the dream landscape of František Maria Černý - the embodiment of physical perfection and the recurring motif of some of his works. He also lent plasticity and sophistication here to the female torso, which stands out in the foreground as a white ancient sculpture, an idyllic form of curves in an extremely impressive realization. He builds organic and inorganic shapes into the landscape and seeks an ideal expression of his landscape of the future. If we go along the Palackého nábřeží in Prague, the white wings of the Emmaus Monastery, whose reconstruction was designed by František Maria Černý, will certainly not escape our attention. He replaced the ruined monastery towers with white concrete wings with gilded spikes.
