The pair of contemporary artists Veronika Watzková (1989) and Monika Matějková (1991) have been working together since their studies at UMPRUM in Prague, where they founded a studio called WE TWO in 2016. Their work ranges from applied and collectible objects to free sculptural figures and installations. They share a common passion for fantasy worlds and handmade original work. Breaking down the boundaries between childhood and adulthood is their challenge. The studio's collections are represented in the permanent collections of the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague and Brno, for which they were nominated for the Czech Grand Design Award in 2017 and 2018. They have had exhibitions during Milan Design Week and a traveling presentation of the MINI WONDERS exhibition, which toured London, Moscow, Tel Aviv, and Tokyo. The duo's latest venture is called the Bludarium collection. The series features imaginative creatures in the form of sculptures made of baked clay combined with wood. The artists like to work with natural materials, letting them come out in their raw form in combination with harmonious morphology underlined by the intervention of colors.
The sculptures entitled Elephant (h. 92 cm) and Llama (h. 130 cm) were created for a unique presentation at Arthouse Hejtmánek. It is a combined construction technique with a surface of hand-applied artificial stone and iron protrusions. The sculptures are intended for the outdoors where they will be exposed to the elements.
