A CLASSIC IRON SAFE CHEST

A masterful very rare wrought iron treasure chest from the Classical period with two lock buckles and a central Classical lock with tympanum and lion's head. Wrought iron handles on the sides to make it easier to move the treasury, which however was often fixed to the ground underneath. The orange interior, which preserved the metal, is dominated by a silver-plated plate with engraved classical ornaments with two amphorae and a border decoration around the maker's mark: IOSEPH PEIN BÜR: SCHLOSSERMEISTER IN WIEN. Excellent condition.
