Saint Nicholas of Myra was a bishop of Myra in Lycia. Already during his life he was very popular among the people, famous for his generosity to the needy, as a defender of the faith against paganism and a savior of the unjustly accused. For the many miracles that took place at his intercession, he is also sometimes called Nicholas the Wonderous. Orthodox iconography depicts him with a book and a sash over his shoulders with a cross. Marked in the lower half of BC 1875, IC (IG), hallmark of 84 zolotnik.
