In Petr Holeček's works, we encounter a poetically-ironic level, which builds on analogies to motifs from mythology, dreams and collective unconscious, but with a bit of human humor. Petr Holeček shifts the material possibilities of bronze and often creates sculptures from solid and heavy metal such as bronze, which touches the senses with their airiness and create the impression that they are perhaps even lightened by air.
Holeček first studied art in České Budějovice before taking a drawing course in Ireland. From 2004 he settled in Ireland and worked as an assistant in the studio of sculptor Patrick O'Reilly. This artistic encounter had a fundamental impact on the future direction of Holeček's work. He discovered the technique of casting bronze using the lost form process. The material and technology allow him to give shape to as yet unexecuted ideas. He gradually departed from abstract forms and his bronze sculptures took on a more figurative character. He regularly participates in major sculpture exhibitions in Ireland and has presented his works at exhibitions in Poland and the Czech Republic. In 2010 he received the Mill Cove Award at the 25th Sculpture in Context Exhibition in Ireland.
