Turkish hand-knotted wool carpet from the nomadic environment of southern Anatolia, the so-called Yoruk, circa 1930. The highly stylized central medallion represents the so-called tree of life and is complemented by ancient Anatolian motifs, whose meaning was partially lost and later reinterpreted in 20th century. An interesting element of the decoration is a female hair ornament in the shape of triangles, it was probably a lavish wedding rug, presented as a dowry.
