A girl in a festive traditional Russian sarafan with a pearl necklace and a decorated kokoshnik on her head represents a beautiful example of a concept illustration by Věnceslav Černý. Věnceslav Černý focused mainly on veristic illustrations, which he created for books and magazines, and also dealt with historical themes. In addition to illustrations to Giacomo Casanova's memoirs, he also illustrated 16 books by Jules Verne.
