Jan Lauda (1898 - 1959) WOMAN WITH A MORTAR

The work from the range of civilist sculpture is represented by Lauda's Woman with a Mortar. We meet a woman sitting on the ground, referring to a social status theme. Jan Lauda became a co-founder of the Nová skupina (New Group), which promoted socially oriented flow in current art. He shared a studio with Otto Gutfreund. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts under Jan Štursa and also became a professor. Artwork comes from a collection of a metalworker Karel Barták.
