Oil on canvas. Signed lower left: “A. Lhota”. An atmospheric painting by Albín Lhota, a contemporary of Chittussi, in which he portrays a path and pond in the winter landscape. The nephew of Antonín Lhota, a professor at the Academy in Prague, Albín Lhota was born in Kunratice in 1847. In 1863–1867 he studied painting at the art academies in Prague and Weimar. Like many other artists, he went on a study trip to Paris during this period. In his work he focused on painting small landscape scenes, which enjoyed strong interest from many collectors. He died in Prague in 1889 at the age of 42. Following his deaths, several dozen of the paintings from Albín's estate were transferred to the Rakovník branch of the Lhota family.
