The Day of the Triffids, a legendary, timeless science fiction novel by John Wyndham, impressed artist Veronika Richterová so much, she immediately succumbed to the temptation to see how such a cruel, deceitful and highly intelligent plant would work in real life: three legs to get around quickly, rattling twigs to emit a menacing sound, a long neck that helps the plant peer over the fence, and an exceedingly long poisonous stinger, always ready to attack and whip. This is no mere room decoration.
