Three books in one volume. Period leather binding, gilded. Engraved frontispiece, with a two-color title page and 60 folded copperplate engravings of instruments by Nicolas Bion. This French creator of mathematical instruments, who has been called the “king of engineers”, had a workshop in Paris. Originally written in French, the book was translated into German and extensively distributed by J. G. Doppelmayer. The book contains images of many various mathematical instruments, astronomical and optical instruments, sundials, globes, armillary spheres, maps and more.
