Walnut, oak. An oval Biedermeier desk. Center pull-out drawer and small upper drawers have a spruce body and polished walnut veneer. Bases of columns in solid walnut, drawers in solid oak. Side columns are hollow for holding flowers. The style of the desk corresponds to the Danhauser workshop. The Austrian Museum of Applied Arts in Vienna, Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague and Moravian Gallery in Brno have similar oval ladies' writing desks in their collections. According to a period watercolor, the Austrian Empress had a similar model desk in her chambers. With its timeless design, it is an exceptional example of Danhauser's highly valued work.
