This chair with a triangular backrest dates to the artist's early Cubist stage, when he designed the furnishings for the home of Dr. J. Borovička. The non-upholstered chair designed for said interior is slightly more dynamic in the arrangement of its curved forms, but the auction item is similar in structure, with the addition of black stripes that emphasize its Cubist form.
