Bohumil Mareček (1884 - 1962) EVENING IN THE VILLAGE

Bohumil Mareček is known primarily for art nouveau-style acts. He is less known as a landscape painter. He repeatedly painted the village landscape from many different angles, and Evening in the Village stands out above the other paintings mainly due to the elaboration of the subject and the choice of the time of day that Bohumil Mareček decided to depict, as he retreated from cheerful colors and preferred a muted early evening situation, which he accentuated with several points of light.
