Zdeněk Sklenář (1910 - 1986) A FISH

Zdeněk Sklenář is better known as an illustrator and graphic artist - due to his work on Old Greek Fables and Legends, Songs of Ancient China and many other books. In the 1950s, he visited China and fundamentally transformed his work. Inspired by traditional Chinese art, he projects the geometry of lines he encountered on his travels into his work. Paintings and graphics thus become his own version of calligraphy, the predecessors of writing on oracle tablets or a variant of wall paintings in Buddhist caves.
