The presented watercolour drawing belongs to the group of Kupka's abstractions of a geometric, structured character. It is a composition of lines and surfaces in a strictly orthogonal arrangement using subtle colouring in contrast with black ink elements. Kupka explored and applied geometric morphology from roughly the second half of the 1920s and especially in the 1930s. According to the artist's handwritten dedication in pencil on the back, the sheet was addressed to " Dear Mr. Jasek 6/X. 31" Year 1931 The work can therefore be dated no later than this year. Verso also a certificate from the author's wife: 'Je certifie, que cette aquarelle est entièrement de lla main de Frank Kupka, mon mari. Eugénie Kupka." (I certify that this watercolour is the handwritten work of Fratiszek Kupka, my husband. Eugénie Kupka)
