Cyril Hančl (1964) WAVE

He has been sculpting since 1980. He works mostly with natural stone, his favourite materials being marble, granite or limestone, but he also uses other materials such as iron, bronze, ceramics or wood. His sculptures are characterised by restraint, a feeling for the material and careful attention to detail. The sculptures do not deny a strong inspiration from nature - they reveal the beauty of the created world. As in nature, the very essence of Cyril's sculptures is their emotional dimension and the energy that lends them their visible form. The work Wave is actually just a torso of the artist's idea, the idea of a wave spreading through space and time to infinity. This torso is only the first piece, others will follow.
