Franz (František) Bibus (11.9.1860 - 12.9.1944) was the founder of a successful company producing silver objects. The first information about the beginning of production dates back to 1883 during the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, when Bibus opened his silversmith workshop in Moravská Třebová. The company name Franz Bibus appears from 1896. Originally the company produced small gold and silver chains, later gradually expanding its range to include jars and boxes, cutlery and tableware. In 1917, the name of the company was changed to Franz Bibus & Sohn, when his son Carl Alois Franz Bibus became co-owner. After 1918, the family business developed into the largest producer of silver-plated alpaca goods in First Czechoslovak Republic. The company gradually disappeared due to unfavourable conditions with the begining of the Second World War.
