Life in interwar Europe became the central theme of Milada Marešová's work, and the social theme brought her great recognition at the exhibition in the Aventine Mansard in Prague. Particularly remarkable is her striving for fidelity and rawness of subject and people without unnecessary idealization or objectification. The paintings, in their skillful artistic abbreviation, speak of authentic experience and are pioneering in their artistic origins - Milada Marešová is often referred to as the forerunner of Czech comics.
