From the opinion of PhDr. Naděžda Blažíčková-Horová: "The presented painting By the lake is an undoubted and very beautiful work of the Munich landscape painter Maxillian Haushofer. Haushofer came from Munich to Prague at the end of 1844 to take charge of the Academy's landscape school. He worked in Prague for a full 22 years and his landscape school quickly became a concept. Haushofer found the subject for the painting At the Lake in the Bavarian Alps with its southern mountains and lakes, where he most often looked for inspiration. In particular, he did not stop depicting Chiemsee with the two islands until the end of his life. The presented painting Bythe Lake with its impressive composition, cultivated colors and brilliant the painter's handwriting is typical for Haushofer and fully demonstrates the mastery of the author."
