René Roubíček (1922 - 2018) ICE CORAL

Ice coral made of fused and shaped clear glass in a studio glass ice finish, which occurs in a limited series. The coral is based on the original color sculptures from 1960 - 1970. René Roubíček was one of the leading figures in Czech glassmaking, participating in the Czechoslovak pavilion at the World's Fair 1958. The author himself said: "Glass - the water stopped to please the human eye. Glass is jazz improvisation in art culture. " René Roubíček painted from an early age and originally wanted to be a painter. Each of his author's glasses is a work of the moment, a unique improvisation on a prepared topic. In her work, René Roubíček lets the glass speak freely and during the creative process his vision changes according to the natural properties and shaping of the glass.
