Neznámý středoevropský Mistr HIGH GOTHIC MARY, MOTHER OF JESUS

The typical, delicate and kind expression of the late Gothic monumental statue of the Virgin Mary without Jesus allows the work to be included in the Czech or Austrian lands. The statue is in very good condition with well-preserved original polychromy and gilding. The delicately drawn face is lined with contrasting detailed carvings of wavy hair. The statue of the Virgin Mary is in a fading beautiful style, in Germany and the Austrian lands also referred to as the soft style (weicher stil), which is characterized by a slight S-shaped bend of the body. The offered statue is analogous to the older Sternberg Madonna, which is similarly dressed in a red cloak with a blue and gold combination.
