Wool salon rug, created for export to Europe at a time of extraordinary popularity of these great Chinese pleasing pieces at the top of Art Deca. These rugs were mostly made in a white-blue combination, which makes this specimen a much rarer piece in rusty maroon tones. The design is also much less common, instead of typical flower vases we can admire four beautifully styled dragons in the central part of the carpet and various Chinese motifs symbolizing, among other things, happiness, longevity and infinity. Remarkable are the swastikas in the border, ancient elements of many meanings, which were later disgustingly discredited by Nazism.
