ICON - THE LAST SUPPER

Traditional church theme in the elaboration of the Orthodox iconographic tradition.The Last Supper, also the Mystical supper, when Christ distributed bread and wine to his disciples as "his flesh and his blood." He asked them to repeat the ritual after him, thus laying the foundation for today's rite of the Eucharist. The generously conceived icon is richly decorated with geometric star gilded ornaments, creating an architectural relief of the composition. The typology of the face is painterly noble with elaborate details and the draperies are carefully shaded and contoured.
