STANISLAV PODHRÁZSKÝ (1920 - 1999) TORSO

Painter, sculptor and conservator Stanislav Podhrázský is considered the ‘defender of love’ of the Czech art scene.

Torso or Nude Young Woman in Green is stylistically identical to his 1983 composition Three Young Women in Green, which is in a private collection. Stanislav Podhrázský studied under František Tichý at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, and echoes of his teacher’s expression can be found in Podhrázský’s style. He was particularly adept at capturing volume in his figurative art, endowing his nudes with an unforeseen dimension.
