The glass frame of this alarm clock has rounded corners on all sides and is topped with right-angle handle. Front white enamel dial panel with Roman numerals and the signature “Johs Hartmann Horloger du Roi, Berlin” (Johannes Hartmann was a royal clockmaker in Berlin based at Unter den Linden 49). Below it is another dial with Arabic numerals for setting the alarm. Steel hands. Alarm volume control underneath the clock. Anchor escapement with balance wheel and quarterly chime. Key. “Carolus Princeps / Lichnowsky Comes / de Werdenberg etc. etc. / anno MDCCCLXI” engraved in upper section. Twelve engraved noble family crests in lower section.
