Anton Engelbrecht (1780 - 1831) A SUNDIAL

This engraved brass inclining and horizontal sundial is the late work of Anton Engelbrecht, an important Bohemian clockmaker. As their instruments are of high gnomic quality and feature precision artisanship, Johann and Anton Engelbrecht attract broad interest among scholars. Similar sundials by these clockmakers are located in the collections of city museums, the Museum of Decorative Arts and National Technical Museum in Prague, the science museums in London and Cambridge, as well as other institutions in the United States and Germany. Signed “Fecit Anton Engelbrecht Melnicäe 1829”.
