The fresh and masterful painting of a small corner of the countryside is typical for this artist, who is known for his depictions of intimate natural landscapes. Unlike his role model Antonín Slavíček, who worked to create panoramic views, Miloslav Holý selected views of small sections of the landscape. As epitomized in this beautiful example, intense color was one of his main means of expression; the painting depicts a momentary experience of the atmosphere, in this case areas near Helvíkovice/Žamberk, where he lived in the summers of 1933 and 1934.
