A unique early sculpture by Ladislav Zívr, which Vladimír Preclík described in his book "Smírčí kříže": "Only after I had it at home in front of me for weeks did I understand the unusual nature of Zívr's work. It encapsulated not only the sadness of the grieving family, but of the whole village, the nation. The head of the animal blends with the black helmet; the distinctive eyes are framed with silver circles together with the tack for the driving horse's bridle. The head is gracefully narrow, its eyes bloodshot. This is a sculpture that can be looked at for a longer period and with more complexity than one is accustomed to. These days we usually look at artworks in a sloppy and quick manner – that is how we were taught and the clocks tell us the time, although they are speeding ahead faster than a musician keeping double time."
