This painting is the counterpart to the painting Springtime (By a Fence). "These idyllic scenes in the spirit of Goethe's The Sorrows of Young Werther were produced before 1899. Both the counterparts, which were framed the same way, are captured in a photograph from 1899, where we can see Václav Brožík in his Prague studio. The paintings were published shortly after their completion. In the catalogue of Brožik's last exhibition in 2003 in the National Gallery, both are described as missing" (PhDr. Naděžda Blažíčková-Horová). The expert assessment included.
