Bareš is primarily known for his work in restoration, but he also created and still creates his own works as well. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts (1956 - 1962) under Professors Vladimír Sychra, Vlastimil Rada and finally under Bohumil Slánský. This work dates from his time as a student and bears the hallmarks of Art Informel. Combined technique on board and wood. Signed and dated in back: Petr Bareš 1960.
