František Kaván (1866 - 1941) WINTER LANDSCAPE WITH AFTERGLOW

Quiet winter landscapes are among František Kaván's iconic subjects. Few motifs resonate so well with his modest nature and precise, lithe handwriting, which is made for snowdrifts and subtle nuances of atmospheric phenomena. At the end of his life, with his declining strength, the formats of his works, which are rather more intimate, became smaller.
