Oldřich Plíva (1946) TRACKS OF LIGHT

The glass sculpture on a granite base with purple-brown colouring is the work of the important Czech glassmaker Oldřich Plíva, who studied at the Academy of Arts and Crafts in Prague in the glass studio of Prof. Stanislav Libenský between 1965 and 1971. His work is characterised by free geometric forms of asymmetrical shapes cast into a mould, which he further refines by grinding to emphasise the effects of light absorption and refraction within the glass blocks. The artist's sculptures are represented in many prestigious institutions around the world.
