Jiří Anderle (1936) EXPIRATION

The question of human existence and its manifestations resonates throughout Jiří Anderle's work. In the variety of means we are presented with many questions and changes which the human mind must comprehend. The creation of an eternal dialogue both with one's own inner self and with objective reality is already reflected in his early work Expiration from 1964, when the author studies the art of Australian Aborigines and the tribes of Oceania. A composition resembilng rock art records the very mechanism of existence. The ephemerality of being has become the mother of artistic expression and a chronicle of the course of human life, as if the pressure of the inevitable end forced the author to leave at least a short message to future generations. The theme of "warning" appears in the author's work since the 1960s. Exhibition labels verso.
