Louisa Piepenhagen (1825 - 1893) PAIR PAINTINGS OF GOTHIC BUILDING

From the expert opinion of PhDr. Naděžda Blažíčková-Horová: "The presented pair paintings, a view of the exterior of a Gothic building with a staircase and a view of the interior of Gothic architecture are unquestionable by Louisa Piepenhagenová. At first she painted architectures, in 1884 she and her sister Charlotte traveled to Italy, where her views of Villa d'Este and various Italian cities and canals were created, and later she devoted herself to depicting aristocratic and burgher interiors, which created in the 19th century specific painting field in artistic community.
